The Outlook Group have published a book called ‘1,000 Places to See in India’. It’s impossible to distil what India has to offer in to a list. It just seems so…trivial? We haven’t experienced all that India has to offer and, in all honesty, probably won’t in this life-time but we endeavor to experience as much as possible and, accordingly update and expand our list and we hope you take a period peek and find inspiration. So, without further fanfare, here are our current favourite experiences in India.
Soaking in the history of Delhi (and by extension India) by exploring her numerous monuments.
Trying different cuisines, whether it’s just a pav bhaji or chilli cheese toast on the go in Bombay or a lavish spread at one of India’s numerous excellent restaurants.
Experiencing the first rains of the monsoon as they sweep in across the Arabian Sea towards the end of the first week of June, like clock-work.
Paddling in to the backwaters of Kerala and getting within touching distance of the inhabitants.
Spending weeks in Rajasthan in winter, when nights are cold and days are as warm as Rajasthanis.
Gallery-hopping to discover the latest trends and artists in India.
Making new friends over an impromptu game of “gully cricket”.
Being swept up in religious fervour at India’s numerous pilgrimage sites.
Discovering ancient cities such as Dholavira and Nalanda.
Chatting to Indians from all walks of life and learning more about them and the country (it helps to speak Hindi).
